In view of the applicable lockdown thanks to coronavirus within the country, the govt has extended the date of filing of annual return of products and Services Tax (GST) till 30 September. Now the GST for 2018-19 is going to be filled up to 30 September. Earlier, minister of finance Nirmala Sitharaman had extended the last date of filing the GST return for the month of March by 5 May.

In a notification issued on 5 May, the Central Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has allowed registered persons to submit GSTR-3B verified through electronic verification code between 21 April and 30 June.

Demand to forgive GST

In view of this, traders are demanding to waive GST, the govt has extended the last date for filing GST. consistent with the govt, waiving the whole tax of a sector will cause problems within the credit chain and can increase problems.

Government is considering giving relief package

Earlier in late April, it had been reported that the govt was considering a Goods and Services Tax (GST) relief package to sectors suffering from the lockdown. consistent with the knowledge, sectors like restaurants, aviation, and hospitality, which are most suffering from the corona under this scheme, could also be given an exemption for not paying GST for six months. aside from this, the GST rate is often reduced for the important estate sector. But thus far no such announcement has been made by the govt.
